these are closed polygons of any type (except concave) with 7 corners maximum within a beacon region; individual destinations within a zone are considered to have the same destination by the system thereby reducing significantly the possible number of destinations and the guidance information necessary; zones can be of any size to suit the terminal guidance accuracy required and large zones can be sub-divided if required
